“The witches, played by QTC debutantes Lauren Jackson, Ellen Bailey and Courtney Stewart, were equal parts sexy and scary as their breathy, slithery bodies contorted about the stage. Their dance training was obvious and choreography by Nerida Matthaei gave the trio an interesting aesthetic twist. ”

Nerida collaborated with the internationally renowned Sir Michael Attenborough on this epic version of Macbeth. Nerida developed detailed choreographic content inspired by the text and embodied the three witches.

Retaining its dark themes and iambic script, Shakespeare’s Macbeth has been given a new brand of bravura by the Queensland Theatre Company (QTC). Directed by Michael Attenborough and presented in association with Brisbane theatre troupe Grin & Tonic, QTC’s production stars a cast of 15, which includes Jason Klarwein and Veronica Neave who play the royal couple. Set in the wilds of the Scottish highlands, General Macbeth is told by three witches that he shall some day be king. Encouraged by his wife, Macbeth is determined to carry out a murderous plan to make himself the new ruler and fulfil the witches’ prophecy.
